Activity Therapy

Activity therapy is the approach I use when working with older children and adolescents. Activity therapy consists of the client and counselor participating in different counseling activities, like expressive arts or sand tray, to build the counseling relationship. Similar to talk therapy, activity therapy gives the client a chance to express and process their experience. Activity therapy is typically 50 minutes.

Individual Therapy

When you think of individual therapy, you may have a very specific picture in your mind, where you lay on the couch and the therapist takes notes and asks you how you feel about things. While you can definitely lay on the couch, this time is for you and you you have the power to discuss your experience and dictate how the session flows. I focus on building the relationship and ensuring you feel safe to share your experience.

Play Therapy

Play Therapy

Playroom

Child-centered play therapy is a developmentally appropriate counseling approach for children 3-9 that utilizes the child-therapist relationship to create change. The therapist focuses on developing a space to encourage the child to explore and express themselves. Children use their play to communicate and process their experience. Play therapy is anywhere between 45 and 50 minutes.

Parent Consultations

When working with children and teens it is so important to involve the entire family in the healing journey. I will meet with parents regularly, where we can discuss your concerns, client progress and parenting strategies to best support your child. Parent consultations are typically 15 to 20 minutes; however, if you need more support we can meet for the full 50 minutes.
